Instrument Helicopter Rating Course 

Course Objectives
This course is for a pilot who already holds a helicopter pilot certificate but does not have an instrument rating.   During the course the student will acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to successfully fly the helicopter in Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and pass the Instrument FAA Practical Test.

Course Description
During the flight portion of the course, the student will learn how to operate the helicopter safely in Instrument Meteorological Conditions.  They will also learn how to track to NAVAIDS, enter and perform holds, DME arcs and instrument approaches to airports. 

During the ground portion of the course, the student will learn about the helicopter flight and navigation instruments, how to interpret IFR charts, flight planning, IFR regulations and safety considerations for IFR flight.

The course is broken down into three separate stages, each building on the previous and the course is completed when all stages are complete and the student is prepared to take the FAA Practical Test for the helicopter instrument rating.
