Flight schools in the United States are designated as either a 14 CFR Part 61 or a 14 CFR Part 141 Flight School.
14 CFR Part 61 designated Flight Schools meet the minimum requirements to operate as a flight school. Part 61 certifications apply to private pilots, flight instructors and ground instructors.
14 CFR Part 141 designated Flight Schools are held to a higher, more structured standard that apply to both training curricula and operational processes. Flight schools that hold an FAA 14 CFR Part 141 Certification have demonstrated that as an organization, they meet or exceed these higher standards. 14 CFR Part 141 schools are subject to increased FAA oversight, to ensure that they continue to meet these requirements.

Middle River Aviation has been awarded an FAA Part 141 Certification! Below is a brief explanation regarding what it means and why it matters when choosing a Flight School.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) governs all aviation activities in the United States and has established a prescribed set of rules known as the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs). The FARs are part of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), and they apply to many different aviation related issues that promote safe aviation, protecting those in the flying industry, their passengers and the public.
The FAA has organized the FARs in to various sections that are referred to as “parts,” so the term “14 CFR Part 141” refers to Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 141 which governs the rules for pilot training schools; regulating the certification requirements and processes of pilots, schools and aircraft.
